What is RSS

RSS is a way to tell your favorite websites to let you know when they have new content. RSS also allows you to access this content on your own timetable. RSS does not clog up your email.

First, you pick an RSS Feed Reader. A couple of free and easy to use ones are Google Reader and Bloglines.

Second, when you see an RSS icon, click it. The page that comes up will give you everything you need to enable the content you want to come to you.

For a simple and quick video description of how RSS works, view the video at the bottom of this page.

Listening to music can be very relaxing. What we may not realize, though, is that certain melodies can provide real and measurable health benefits by lowering stress. According to Allen Elkin, PhD, in Stress Management for Dummies, “the music needs to have a particular beat to induce a sort of meditative state whereby your breathing and heart rate slow down and your blood pressure lowers.”

A recent French study points to soothing New Age melodies as the type of music that can reduce levels of the stress hormone cortisol. And according to Dr. Elkin, there are field-tested Baroque and classical compositions that also have a calming effect, including:

CHOPIN: “Nocturnes”
PACHELBEL: Canon in D
HANDEL: “Water Music”
SHUBERT: Symphony No. 8 in B Minor
MOZART: Piano Concerto No. 21
