What is RSS

RSS is a way to tell your favorite websites to let you know when they have new content. RSS also allows you to access this content on your own timetable. RSS does not clog up your email.

First, you pick an RSS Feed Reader. A couple of free and easy to use ones are Google Reader and Bloglines.

Second, when you see an RSS icon, click it. The page that comes up will give you everything you need to enable the content you want to come to you.

For a simple and quick video description of how RSS works, view the video at the bottom of this page.

The incidence of Type 2 diabetes has increased dramatically over the past 20 years with an estimated 24 million Americans now having the disease.

Understanding Type 2 diabetes is an important step toward preventing
it. Type 2 diabetes is where cells throughout the body become resistant to insulin, a hormone that transports glucose from the blood to the body’s cells.
Closely monitoring blood chemistry levels is critical to those with diabetes
or prediabetes.

Facts About Type 2 Diabetes:

  • 70% of cases are triggered by being overweight or obese.
  • 24% of people don’t know they have the disease.

If you have prediabetes or diabetes, it is important to keep your blood chemistry levels close to these targets:

  • TFPG (fasting plasma glucose) Below 110 mg/dL
  • Hemoglobin A1c (HbA1c) Below 7%
  • LDL (bad) cholesterol Below 100 mg/dL
  • HDL (good) cholesterol Above 40 mg/dL for men;
  • Above 50 mg/dL for women
  • Triglycerides Below 150 mg/dL
